Can anyone tell me why my coil would be arcing into itself? Wires, cap, rotor, plugs and coil are all new. have swapped out several coils and the all did the same thing. It arcs from center out the bottom of the boot (not through the boot) into the metal that runs around the coil itself.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

 

try using some dielectric grease that usually helps.

 

I had a small crack in the plastic around the coil once and had this problem. I tie wrapped some rubber insulation to anything it could arc to. This fixed my problem without replacing the coil.
