power window button

recently i have had trouble getting my drivers side window button to make the window go up. it goes down with no problem, but it seems like its not making contact when i try to put it back up. after messing with it for a little while and pushing it down in different ways it goes up perfectly. well now it wont go up at all. i was wondering if its just a bad connection with the button or if there is something i need to replace to make it work properly. any help would be appreciated

to make sure its the switch swap in the other power window switch and see what happens, if it is the switch trying cleaning it with some eletronic cleaner or just buy another switch from the parts store/junk yard..

the plastic case of the window switches often develops cracks that will cause the whole switch to wobble in the console. the contacts inside the switch have been known to develop corrosion on them and wear out due to arcing too.

fortunately, new switches are less than $15/each from the dealer.

ok well i have the shifter console off and the buttons off but i am having trouble getting the switch part out. i have a haynes manual but its not really very detailed. do i have to squeeze something to release them or do they just pop out? its kinda hard cause my hand barely fits. i would take off the console part above it but the plastic hex screws are stripped. is ther any way to get them out without totally destroying them

you have to squeeze the switch tangs from underneath to remove the switches from the console cover. i doubt you'll be able to get enough pinch force with your fingers, you'll probably have to use a pair of pliers instead.
