I want to put '86 gauges into my '85 TA, especially the 140 speedo. Will they hook right up? Is there anything special I have to do? Does the '86 speedo still use the cable?

 

86+ birds with the 140MPH cluster all use an electronic speed sender.

Well, I think the battery is totaly shot, so I am going to throw in the battery out of my brothers RS tomorrow to see if that helps anything. If that doesnt I think I am going to try putting in one of the older clusters in but still use the tach and speedo out of this one.

Is there a electronic speed sensor(vss?) in my '85? If so, will the '86 gauge work with it?

No, there is not. That link I posted shows how to make it work, but it is quite a bit of work.
