Power Window help!

i have an 83 z28 and my Driverside power window decided to stop working?!!

the problem has been off and on for a few months now, but in the past all i had to do was hold the window switch for a few sec then the window would kick in and go down..

now when i press the switch for the driver side window to go down, nothing happens.. i don't hear any noise from the motor or anything... i shake the window i shake the switch(best i can) and still nothing..

i thought it might be the power window fuse in the fuse box, but it's not... The passenger window works just fine, no problem on that window at all, only the driver side window

help?? i'm thinking some wires on the motor might be loose or possibly corroded... but i REALLY don't want to take the door panel off to check..

any advice or help is needed and appreciated!!

if the window is stuck in the down position, lift the front of the door panel up and give the motor a couple whacks with a hammer while holding the window switch.

Most likely the brushes in the motor have died. Thats the classic way the motors fail. When the brushes wear down they get sloppy in the holder and will cause intermittent operation. You can try tapping the motor, however if they are shot it may not help. My prayers go out to you, the motor is a pain to change. Be EXTREMELY careful when working with the window regulator, my buddy lost the tip of a finger because of carelessness.

Advice? Yeah. Read this: Power Window Motors.pdf.

(You'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 to open the file.)

You SLEEP witha laptop V-Man. Excellent article. You Gotta see the faces of the parts store guys when I take back the rebuilt motor an hour later-minus the guts. And YES, I do pay for it. :hail:
