ECM question
ECM question
I have an 85 camaro, with a 305 engine. I think that my ECM module has gone bad but i cant really tell. I was wondering if i pulled one off an 87 305(not camaro though) and put it on my car would it work? They both look identical except there is a chip labled CPK on the Camaro's ECM. Could i take that off because it seems to come off. And put the chip onto the other ECM and would that work? Or are they just too different kinds of ECM's. The one i pulled off i think it was off an 87 capric but im not for sure, but i know it was off a chevy though.

Your engine TPI?
If so, the ECMs are different. The '85 is one off ecm. The '86-'89 and 90-92 are different from each other. There are some tech articles on swapping ecm's. I plan on doing that swap myself. I'm just waiting on a custom chip.

Sorry dude, I don't know carbs that well. Try asking around the ecm board. I'm sure they could help.
