power windows

I have a 91 rs and my passenger window stops when going up. It will go up some and then stop again. Then I wait a minute and it will move up just a little more. Is it just a bad connection? How do I fix it?

You probably need to get inside the door and grease the window tracks. IIRC the windows work on a thermal circuit breaker. If the motor is struggling to raise the window itwill cause extra strain on the motor/ heat in the circuit. This causes the breaker to trip & then reset after is cools (doesn't take long, similar to how a turn signal flasher works really I guess). The other possible problem could be the motor is dieing and causing the same fault. Don't quote me on any of that because I'm not 100% sure about the breaker.

Most likely the motor brushes are worn. When they get low the get very loose in the brush holder causing erratic operation. The thermal breaker is a simple bi-mettalic strip that warps under extreme current opening a contact and removing voltage from the motor. Even if the tracks are dry as DB says, generally the motor will labor for a bit before the it thermally cut's out. Chances are upon inspecting it you will find it's simply the brushes.

Thanks a lot guys. Could I get the motor from a local auto parts store? Is it fairly cheap and should it be pretty easy to install?
