Help Please!!!!! Electrical Prob!!!

Hey! MY CAR WON'T START!!!!

Here's the story.....bear with me please!!!

I had to go to work so the car (Black '89 2.8 V6) was running just perfect. I go on my break and drive to McDonald's and it is still running good......then, when i get off work just 3 HOURS LATER!!!!, i get in my car, turn the ignition and......NOTHING!!!! ABSOLUTLY NOTHING HAPPENS!!!!! I guess it's the starter b/c the next day i went to wal mart and got my battery replaced and i have a brand new alternator. So.....now i must get the tools back out once again!!!! OH well, that's the price you pay with older cars.

it turns out it's not the starter. I find this out after i put a brand new one in. I believe now that it's the Clutch Safety Switch......a $5 part!!!!!

it turns out that it isn't even the switch!!!!!!! I have no i dea what it is, i know it's somthing with the electrical system b/c i tried to force start it and pop the clutch and it started and ran. I just can't start it using the ignition. I have no clue......some guy is coming to my house today to tell me what's wrong with it for $35. If any of you know and can tell me that'd be great!!! I'm starting to think it's something with VATS.

Thanks,
F-Bodeee

Check the SECURITY light when you turn the ignition ON. If the VATS is working properly, it should go out after like 2 seconds.

Make sure that your main engine and body ground wires are in good condition as well. Could also be a defective or out of adjustment ignition switch.

It still could be the neutral safety switch behind the clutch pedal.
I know in my 84 the switch moved on me, and the car wouldn't start. Once I readjusted it, it was fine.
Try pressing the switch by hand while someone else turns the key.
I don't think it's VATS because I don't think you would be able to pop start it if the security system was stoping the car from starting.
