why wont my foglights stay on?
i got a 1990 firebird. when i push the button for the fog lights, both lights will go on but i have to hold the button down for them to stay on. if i let go they shut off. i took the switch out awhile ago and it seems fine. how does that circuit work? is the switch supposed to click and stay closed or is it supposed to be a momentary switch that clicks the relay on and off?

A guess (and the fact I've broken many of these types of switches), from your description, the 'catch' (the part that 'clicks') has broken.
