Speedometer not working at low speeds?

Speedo not working under 20mph

Every since I ran it to 140 plus playing with a BMW M roadster, I noticed the speedo will fluctuate 1-2mph at any speed, and lately (within the last couple of days), I have no speed indications around/under 25mph. After I get about 45-60 it starts working again, although it fluctuates 2-3mph, at all speeds. What is causing this????? Any information would be helpfull, thanks in advanced!
James

Sounds to me like you've stretched the speedometer cable. Only option is to replace it, and your problem should go away. When you were driving at such scary speed, did you go off the clock? I only ask because that's a sure way to stretch a cable.

Then accept my apologies. Since I don't live in the US, I don't see many of our cars (actually I only see mine!) and therefore I'm not too hot on years and equipment, except for what I have. If it is an electronic speedo, then I'm afraid I don't know.

That's okay, thanks anyways. I bet you get a lot of attention driving your car there. Get to play with many BMW's or Puegot's (sp?) ??

I did wipe the floor with peugeots and beemers (some) before I took her off the road for an engine recon. This summer I'll be doing it again!
