Who here have gone "Painless"?
Who here have gone "Painless"?
I need a wiring harness for my 87 305 TPI. Id prefer one from Painless than one from a parted f body. Anyone have one and like it? Do u prefer the extended 4 ft or was it 8ft? I know its a plug in deal, but is splicing required?
I bought a painless harness for a LT1. I got mine used but it is stll in great condition. Everything is labeled (alot easier). There are some wires that you will have to splice though because not everything has a connector on the end fo it. I know this isn't for a 305 but I am sure it would be of no less q uality

I have a painless as well. 75% of the harness is a direct "plug in". Things like battery power, ignition power, fuel pump, P/N Switch, fan relay, etc... will require splicing into the vehicles chassis/body harness. Definatly get the "extended" version. The "regular" version is to short unless you cut a hole in the firewall by the distributer. If you want to route it behind the passenger fender like a factory installation, you'll need the long version.
My only gripes were where they have you mount the MAP sensor (if its speed density) and the fact that the entire harness is powered by ONE 30 Amp fuse. The stock setup has INJ 1 fuse, INJ 2 fuse, fuel pump, etc.... which makes shorts in the system easier to locate by which fuse it blew. With one fuse for the whole system, ANYTHING on the painless harness could be at fault.
