IAT question

What does an IAT do? I just installed an induction system and want to know if I need to hook my IAT up to it or not. If so, how do I connect it?

just hook up the IAT back ...
make a hole in the CAI ur running and hook
it back...otherwise the car wont run good
as in simple terms the computer will have no idea what
the intake temp is ...

why does it matter if it knows the air temp? what does it do differently w/ different information?

if it doesnt know the intake air temp...

it cant look up how much fuel to add / how much
to advance the spark...

im not entierly sure on the 7730 ECM that u have
which tables need IAT values....

im pretty sure that it looks up the value for adding
fuel....if u do a search u can find out more from the
PROM board...

some people try fooling the computer by connecting
a 3.3K or some similar resistor across the IAT
to make the computer think that cold air is
comming in all the time (this is bad)..

connect the IAT in a place thats not close to the
radiator..a place wher e it can get a clean reading

it actually is a variable resistor depeding on temp

it might be the reason for your bad idle as well
