speed gov. bypass?

i was wondering if i were to find the wires before and after the computer on my 1991 RS v8 5 speed car if i could cut the wires before and after the computer and connect them so that it will not let the speed gov. work but i can still see how fast i am going?

PS: if not is there anyway that i can bypass it without spending more than like 5 $?

thanks in advance

Ahh.. the joys of being a cheap (and knowing someone else is like you and wrote a tech article )
You might enjoy this bit of reading...

The same theory applies to TPI

By following that tech article, will that allow you to still be able to tell how fast you are going when you turn the switch off?

If you have an electric speedo, no (year/car depending).
On 'birds with an elec. speedo up to 90 (I think), it would be possible to defeat the VSS signal to the ECM from the buffer. The 90+ camaro & bird, the ECM recieved the VSS signal and than buffered it to the speedo and cruise. On a cable driven speedo (camaro for the most part), the speedo operation would be unaffected.
