Deep Fried something

Well we went to start my car and the starter was hanging half way out and started a fire. We cut the ground cable on the battery and then put out the fire. It burned my brake line in half and my starter is leaking. How much is this gonna cost me to get fixed at a local shop????

There was fluid dripping from it but maybe that is just the brake fluid. I don't know

Starters don't just "hang half way out". Brake lines don't just burn "in half". They're solid metal. Brake lines are nowhere near the starter on a thirdgen. So what exactly burned out and what exactly was hanging half way out ?

They had taken the starter out when they were replacing the clutch. It was not all the way back in and thats how we think the fire started. Some fluid was dripping and someone suggested it might be break fluid but I am not sure.
