Okay, I admit defeat....problems like these are beyond my ability. My gas, oil, battery gauge, and my tach dont work...the speedometer works, but is about 10 mph off. I can put in a new fuse and my gas and batt. gauges work, but they blow the fuse in five minutes. Someone help! I have got this baby running like a dream, but I cant figure this out.

What kind of motor do you have? Did this just start all of sudden or did it start after some work was put in to it? You didn't happen to get a new tranny put in or have yours worked on did you?

It's a 305 V8....it has had this problem since I bought it, and I do know that the previous owner is a mechanical idiot.....he had the fan wired backwards, among other things. There's no telling what he did to it. I would be happy if I could just get the gas gauge working, it really stinks to run out in the middle of nowhere

Sorry about this, but just one more question TPI, TBI, or Carb...

If it is TPI, I may be able to help. I had the same problem that took me 2-3 days to trace down

Ok, well since it's not a TPI I can't really walk you through the chase, but here are a few things that it could be. Air Diverter Valves (Either One), Purge Canister Solenoid, Cruise Control, Egr Solenoid, Egr Valve, and TCC Lockup. I'm not sure if the Carbed cars had all, or some of this, but it's worth a look.

Ok, I had to put a new steering wheel on it right after I bought it...but the only one I could get my hands on was a firebird wheel, which doesn't have cruise control like the original. Could that be where the problems at?
