lights go up, but not down

Well my lights will flip up with no problem. But when i turn them off they don't go down. If i turn them on and off a few times they'll eventually go down. And sometimes if I just a few seconds they'll go down on there own. I don't know think its the motors because then they wouldn't go up right?

these have contact switches om the inside of h-lite motors ,although motor would continue to run in most cases and not shut off,i suspect your relay that controls motors has a bad contact.the two wires that control motors reverse polarity depending on direction motor is moving headlight,i.e. it will show 12volts going up&ground going down,2nd wire will do exact opposite of 1st.good luck!

I tested the connectors closest to the actual motor. They seem to working properly, it had power and a ground, opposite for up and down. The motors aren't turning when they don't go down so I really don't think its the motors.

I had that problem and it was my headlight switch.
changed switches and they went down fine, but to flip them up I'd have to push the switch in a little bit till the lights were all the way up and then push the switch in the rest of the way to keep them up. 3 new switches from the dealer did that.

I am a complete idiot. I never even thought to check the actual switch in the dash. That was the problem. Got a junkyard switch and works like a champ. The most simple thing, and its the last part I check
