T/A Not Starting, Code 42- EST
I think this is the best suited place for this post, if not move it please.
Anyways, I have an '86 Trans Am 305 TPI and today I drove it about 2 miles then tried to start it back up after about 20 minutes or so. It would fire up at first, very poorly, then die off. I could barely keep it alive if I would pump the gas. So my first guess was the fuel pump, but I just did that. So I checked the trouble codes and a 42 is popping up. From what it says in the Chilton it's an EST code. I didn't have an SES light come on at all and it still doesn't come on. So I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this problem or any helpful suggestions. I might of just made my 305 mad, because today I picked up my new 396 that I'll be dropping in soon and that might have made her jealous or something.
Thanks for all input!
I did check the boards for a similar occurance, but found nothing.

I'm pretty sure it's the fuel pump. I can't hear it kick on when the key is turned and usually I can. POS Auto Zone pump, I should have never put it in. The fuse is good. I wonder why I would be getting that code 42 though. I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

Well, the pump it is. I'm guessing that the computer was just trying to compensate and ended up putting that code in there. I'll clear it out once I get it running and see if it pops up again.
