diff of headlamp motors

right now I have three set of motors... my original (85) a set off of a 88 GTA and a third in my everyday's ride 94's... the fourth gen's ones make less sound that the engine running when I open the headlamps and I heard the 88's which make more noise but less than my original ones... now is it me or am I right? the 88 are also smaller than the 85's... now I have the full headlamps plus the motors so what else would I need to make the motor swap?

Well, what exactly are you trying to do?

A 4th to 3rd gen swap would be difficult. Both motors, the headlight switch, and the headlight control module would be needed along with the wiring. Just trying to get the 4th gen motors to fit and work would require some fabricating.

To change to the 88 style, you'll need both motors, the wiring, the control module and maybe a new headlight switch. The motors will bolt right in though.

Easiest thing would be to stick with what you have.

Do your motors not work?

As a note, in the interchange manual at the local junkyard 1991-1997 used the same headlight assembly, motor and all. Don't know how accurate that is but thats what it listed.

That would make sense, since the design the front end was redesigned. Those years all had the same style front end(for the most part)

I was thinking about the 85 to 88 motor swap... my motors work fine, it's just that the 88's make less noise when they work and they are smaller... but if it is such a PITA I'm gonna stick with the 85's
