700 r4 question

I just completed a 383 swap in my 83 trans am. it is non emmissions with a 700r4 trans. my question is if the computor isnt controlling the engine, will the trans shift correctly or is there something extra i need to buy? also , what painless kit would be correct for my car? all i know now is it has to be a 18 curcuit because of the electric doors. any help would be appreciated.

The only thing controlled by the computer on a TH700R4 tranny is the torque converter lock up function. If you have a non-locking converter, don't worry about it, if you do have a locking converter, B&M makes a kit to use lockup on non CC engines.

On a non locking converter you'd disable the TCC, what lock up does is give you better gas mileage by locking the converter out, less drag on the engine that way.

or you can get a non lockup converter and modify the pump. this is what i did. i got my converter through torco. they sent me a new valve and screw to modify the pump, it even came with directions and was free with my converter. best part was it was only 320 bucks shipped for a custom bulit stall. that b&m box is like 130 i believe.
