Hooking up Distributor
I really cant figure this out, I have a 76 LT 350 in there. It is the exact same distributor as my 82 305 had (well cap/rotor, basically everything). Now I canno figure out how to hook it up, I mean, I have the 1 wire coming from the distributor which goes into the back like 3 prong plug in thing. Then, I have the green tach wire, but this doesnt just push into the distributor, does it go through something else that goes into the distributor, you'd think that it'd just go straight into the distributor, but the connections differ. Then, I have which I think is the power wire, that does fit hte connection for the distributor, this leads to the firewall where it goes through this round cylinder (ballast connector im told) then on the other end is a 2 prong type connection with only 1 prong in there. This is just sitting there, not connected to anything, what does this connect too.
If anyone can help me, that'd be great, also can someone explain this to me more in depth, like does the power wire go through the ignition first or something?

make sure you have a HEI dist in the motor, there were older dist.'s that were non-HEI and they are not compatable with the newer wiring.
there is a protrusion from the cap which is where the wires hook up, the 3 prong connector hooks to the inner-most part of the protrusion the the power wire hooks to the side nearest the firewall and the tach wire hooks next to the power wire towards the front of the car.

Yes it is an HEI distributor, and the cap(covers coil) that covers the distributor cap shows that. So I know that, I also know which wire is for the tach out of the harness. But it does not fit in the distributor, its like a different type of connection, so i was wondering if it went through any other connection before it went into the distributor. Also the battery power wire, is there too, but the other end of that is just hanging and not connected to anything, I'm wondering what it connects too.
I have a picture to illustrate all of this, its about 400kb and It wont let me post it, may I email it to you?
