testing codes without scanner?

HI EVERYONE.
YESTERDAY A FRIEND TOLD ME TO TEST MY IROC WITHOUT SCANNER. I ASKED HIM HOW AND THIS IS WHAT HE TOLD ME.
UNDER THE DASH THERE IS A SMALL BOX WITH A MULTIPLE PLUG (I SUPOSSE THERE IS WHERE THE SCANNER PLUGS IN). GROUND THIS TWO TERMINALS AND THE CAR STARTS CHECKING MODE. THE TIMES ENGINE LIGTH TURNS ON TELLS YOU THE PROBLE CODE. FOR EXAMPLE, IF THE CODE IS 13 THE ENGINE LIGTH WILL TURN ON ONE TIME THEN WAIT A MOMENT AND TURN 3 MORE TIMES.
DOES ANYONE KNOWS ABOUT THIS?
DOES IT WORKS?
IS IT POSSIBLE THAT I KILL MY CAR?
THANKS FOR YOUR ANSWERS.

you got it right, easiest way to do it is with a paper clip, its the A and B ports, the top right 2 holes on mine but make sure thats what they are on yours first

if you stick the paper clip in the wrong holes you could fry something. You have a repair manual? It should tell you which holes are which.
And yep, i know for a fact this works. In fact, i have a box of paper clips in my car for that exact reason.
