non thirdgen electrical nightmare

Me and a buddy of mine where driving down the road the other day, hit a pot hole and everything went, im talkin radio, headlights, tail lights, dash lights. Blew pretty much all the fuses. When we tried to replace the fuses they just blow again. Could it be that the alternator is putting out too much or a shot relay somehwere? Or do we just got to go digging for a bad ground? The vehicle is a '86 jeep charokee. You would think for still being carborated there wouldnt be much for electrical. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks

sounds like something broke and chafed the main power wires after the fuse block. i would look for anything rubbing the wires as that is bad. a bad alt will not blow all fuses, just its own. and if there were a short before the fuse block the fusable links would blow. so you problem is probably in the dash. did you hear a big rattle in the dash at the same time?

thanks
