how can you test if a relay is good or not??
I want to know if the relay for my door locks needs replaced or not. They still lock but act sort of sluggish.
if they still work, the relay is doing it's job. If the locks are getting sluggish, you probably need to clean your lock linkages in the door. Find all the points that contact each other when you lock and unlock. Spray them down with WD-40 to get all the dirt and gunk off of them, and then spray all of it with a white lithium grease to lubricate them. In between those two stages, work the locks back and forth quite a few times to work the lube in. You might as well lube the window tracks and regulator while your in there too.
Good luck,
Matt

. I had the same problem except worse: The passenger side door lock did NOT work AT ALL. Part of the problem was that someone f***ed with the door and put that lock **** on the INSIDE of the door panel and trim, and the other was that the weatherstripping on the outer side of the window and the inner plastic was no good and let water into the door panel, rusting the whole darn thing into place. A good half hour is what it took me to get that thing working again...

There was a discussion a few months ago that revolved around the relay ground on the kick panel. A few people mentioned that their door locks were very sluggish, and thought it was their linkage. After cleaning up the relay ground, their their power locks came back to life.
