need help ASAP!!!

ok, im in a bit of a bind here. my starter clicks, but doesnt want to turn. the power locks, hatch release, and headlights work. however, the radio, gauge cluster, windows do not. like i said, the starter makes a clicking noise but will not turn the engine. here is what i have done:

1.) replaced the starter solenoid
2.) replaced both the fusible links off the solenoid
3.) replaced both the positive AND negative battery cable

there are 2 things that are not hooked up and i am thinking that they have something to do with the mess. the tach wire to the distributor isnt hooked up (i cant find that little connector...yea, like not on the harness ). also, the "m" post (i think thats it, its not the 's' post or the post where the "+" batt. cable runs in. its a third post) thats not hooked up. it wasnt on my previous starter. also, im using aftermarket gauges. would that by chance have anything to do with certain things working and certain things not? i need help ASAP.....hint hint Vader

jumping does not always work. Try a new battery. That will most likely solve your problem.

OK, jumping the battery did nothing. here is what i have done so far:

-replaced all the fusible links by the starter
-replaced the starter solenoid
-replaced the positive AND negative battery cables

here are the symptoms:

-starter clicks, does not crank
-headlights, interior lights all work
-blinkers do not
-power locks/windows work
-gauge cluster does not work, but lights up
-radio works
-no humm from the fuel pump

ive replaced the ground strap. i might have stripped that bolt though. would that create these problems? ive dropped in a Mallory HEI distributor, so im not sure about the timing yet. ive read that that could effect it, but how do you check it? at the moment, only the power wire is attached to the distributor. the tach is not connected. i dont have that connector. could that cause these things? i do not have a computer. i also have aftermarket gauges so ive replaced all the sending units. ive heard that sometimes the car fuel pump wont go unless theres oil pressure. since i dont have a stock oil psi sending unit, could that effect my fuel pump, even though i dont have a computer? ive also replaced the water temp sender, fuel pressure sender, and transmission temp sending unit. im really REALLY lost here. are there ANY more fusible links or anything that could be bad? i want replacing the battery to be a last ditch effort.

i thinks those are all the details....

Ok i have replaced the battery and it still clicks.

addition:
-wipers (front and back) dont work
-rear defrost dont work
-windows DO work
-gauge cluster works now (the wires were just coming undone)

*EDIT: what are those group of wires coming out of the firewall kind of behind the passenger side cylinder head? like they run to the vicinity of the heater core or something?

Get along wire with an alligator clip and check the voltage with a meter at the starter, both the large wire from battery and the small one thats from the ingition sw. check to see what the voltages are before and when cranking. Should be above 9.5 volts . It could be your ingition sw. That could cause all those circuits not working . The headlights don't go through the sw.

Yes, if it isn't engaging fully in the crank position it will cause intermittant contact which will cause the solenoid to click erratically .
