can you convert from 3wire 02 sensor to a 1 wire 02 sensor?
its an 88 nissan with 200k miles on it.(4give me moderators:hail: )but i dont want to dump a 100$ sensor in my 1000$ winter truck.
the truck now has a 3wire ..12v,ground, and the millivolt signal wire. can i install a GTA one wire 16$ 02 sensor in the exhaust and use the one wire? if i did not use the 12volt and ground will the computer still read the millivolt signal from the gm sensor and adjust fuel accordingly? sorry about the non 3rd gen question but i need my $$$ for my GTA
thanks

Should work, BUT the heated sensor was put there for a reason, probably because they were having problems keeping the sensor hot enough and if you use the truck in the winter you'll just compound that problem.

Heated sensors usually are pretty pricey. They are becoming more popular because they will react faster, they don't need the exhaust gas to be 500 degrees before it starts to read. It basically will bring the engine into closed loop faster than a non heated one. Depending on the ECU and it's programming you may run into a situation where you will get a check engine light if you convert. And if that happens, the ECU will default and go to a preset fuel delivery which will affect gas mileage as well as driveability.
