Guage Cluster help please
I have an 82 Camaro Berlinetta, non-digital dash, 85mph stock speedo and other guages. My speedo doesn't work, but it's mechanical. My fuel guage might work, but I haven't driven it enough to verify. I believe my tach works. All my other guages do not work.
I don't know how to check if the guage itself is bad, of it the wires sending it the information are not sending them (be it the sensor, wire, whatever). How can I verify my gauge cluster is good electronically. How can I verify that the right inputs are being received from the wires. I'd like to do as much of this as I can without taking the cluster in and out of the vehicle, 'cause it's a pain.
Any/all help is apprecaited.
BTW - I believe I have a computer controlled carburator, if you're wondering about an ECU. I would check the "check engine" light, but someone has already removed the bulb (nice diagnostic work
) and I already have removed the guages.

So it's not as cool as lit RS emblems, and doesn't conjure as much emotion as a theif story, but if I could get some help with this, I'd appreciate it!

The speedo appears to be mechanical (cable driven). It's all the other guages that seem to be inaccurate and electronically driven.

Check the wires to make sure they're ok and everything is connected. Check the connector behind the cluster to make sure the tabs are ok. Then if you have a few bucks laying around you can throw a new coolant and oil pressure sending unit at it and see if that works, if it didn't you have new ones atleast heh. It's not the best way to do things but i'm not sure how to check to see if the senders are working so that's how i'd tackle this problem if the sending units apear to be as old as the car.
