Power door lock conversion and alarm reccomendation
I am planning to do a power door lock conversion on my bird while I've got everything stripped out and my question is how hard is this to do? I'm just trying to get a rough feel for the time frame involved in something like this.
On the second point I am also going to install a car alarm and am looking for good recommendations on one. I don't need anything super fancy, I really don't care about the alarm as we all know how effective they are with thieves, more of a deterrent for amateur thieves than anything else. The main reason I want the alarm is for the auto lock/unlock of the doors and the hatch release.
The main things I'm interested in feature wise for the alarm system is:
1) Code hopping
2) Aux outs for the hatch release
3) Double pulse door control to unlock only drivers door or both by my command
4) Remote start would be nice but not necessary
Don't need LCD pagers or all of the other fancy bits they want to put in them now. After all the alarm itself is just a side benefit to the remote unlock feature to me.
TIA

i would defineately go with a viper alarm....they are one of the best and most reliable.....as far as the options you want there are alot of models from viper, the higher the number the more outputs the alarm will have. you could get away with using the 300 (base model) except you wouldn't have the option of driver pass. door or remote start...it would do both doors and pop your hatch...i have the 800 which does the most...doors, hatch, rolls windows up and down, no remote start cuz i have a 5-speed but it can....and i still have like 4 more outputs left...the down side is that alarm runs about $800.....i did stereo and alarm installs b4 i joined the military so if you have any more questions or problem feel free to ask installed everything myself
