power door locks
The answere is probably to put new actuators in the doors but i am hopeing there is a cheaper solution.
when i press the button to lock or unlock my doors it never does it on the first press. i have to press the button repeatedly to get the locks to slide all the way. is there a part that gets dirty or needs oil or something? my electric locks are lacking that umph it needs to preforme proporly
Thanks
James

Yes, the rod linkage inside the door panel gets dirty and periodically needs cleaning and lubing. You might also check the linkage rod where it goes through a retainer on the door panel to see if the rod is slightly bent. Also, the door power lock relay occassionally goes bad and loses some of its strenght. It is located under the left kick panel. After you get the linkage cleaned, spray them with some white lithium grease.

I did the same thing that trickster said in june and it fixed my problem. And to add on to what he said about the relay... it's behind the drivers side kick panel and it is grounded with the screw on the bracket that the relay is mounted with. Make sure it's tight.

The linkages also develope wear or crack at the the plastic attachent points. I've found that wrapping them with a zip-tie will tighten them up and take out the slack so the solenoid will give better actuation of the door lock cylinder.
