Gauge Cluster Printed Circuit Question.

My printed circuit behind the gauge cluster is bad. I picked up a used one from a junkyard, but when I went to change it out, I found that it didnt have as many bulb holes as mine did. I put it in, and turned my lights on and everything came on, blinker lights and all. So my question is, does the printed circuit have to be the EXACT same as the one I have now? Also have a light problem, when im going down the road and turn on my bright lights, my headlights go out. They are fine on low beam though. I figure its a grounding problem somewhere, but when the car is parked, the brights work fine. Just looking for suggestions as to where I should look for a lose ground or something. Thanks.

There's a few differences depending on years, mainly in the two rows of warning lights along the bottom (and the non-gauge clusters of course), but they should all plug in and work without needing rewiring.
If the problem with your original cluster board was that some of the traces were broken, they can be repaired by carefully soldering some jumper wires across the breaks.
Here's how I repaired mine; not pretty but it worked...

Now soldering is something I can do! I do it at work all day hehe, what seems to be the problem on mine is the right side connector plug(if your looking down on the circuit) the connectors that go down and into the plug are kind of flapping off the circuit. Can I just solder those down?

this is kind of off the topic....but is there anyway I could run power from my exsisting lights in my gauge cluster? I'm thinking about running some LED's..and I need a close power source. I thought maybe if I could get power from the stock bulbs...it would save on having to splice into anything far away from the cluster.

The bottom red circle is exactly where my 83 Z28 printed circuit went bad. I soldered mine as well. It works great.

I think ill give it a shot, I also have some scratches right where that bottom red circle is, but still not real sure about where the circuit plugs into the rest, its flappin around.
