Need help quick

Ok, while installing my 4th gen dash, I accidently touched the power wire (red) where it plugs into the headlight switch, to another wire and it prety much sparked and now I have no headlights or gauge lights. The car has no interior right now because of the swap, and I don't know what else works or doesn't, but I don't think there's any power to the HVAC. I was told earlier to check the fusable links at the starter, and I did, with a test light, and all checked out fine. Power before and after the fuses. So, can anyone reccomend anywhere else where there may be a fuse that I can check? I really need to get the car back together.

No, I didn't, or at the accessory fuse for that matter.

For a quick fix, here's what I did. please tell me if this is safe or not.

I ran a 16 gauge wire from the battery and splice it to the wire going to the accessories fuse. I put a 18 gauge fusable link inside the car, right before it splices into the wire going to the accessories fuse. Everything works fine now, and I've driven it for 2 days with no problems.

I've tried everything I could hink of that could cause a problem with doing that; touched wires together from the headlight switch, etc. and everytime, it just blew the accessories fuse.

if you didn't do it to begin with...the smart thing to have done would have been to disconnect the battery.
