Manual fan switch
My fan doesn't go on by itself, so for the past year or so I've been switching it on by turning the A/C on. I've been wanting to put a switch in for a long time, but last time I tried the wire melted. I think it was too small. What would be a good guage wired to do this? Would 14 be enough or 12? I have both. I can go get some 10 if I need to. Also, where can I ground the switch? The switch will be in the console next to the radio. The closest bolt that goes into the body of the car is for the shifter. Would that be okay to ground it there? I dont know much about grounds, so I'll need some help there. Thanks.

My switch is not grounded. I have a fusible link with a 30 amp fuse between the switch and the battery.

since the fan comes on with the A/C, all you need to do is ground that same wire(green IIRC) off the relay through a switch, don't need big wire 16 or 14 would be plenty, any part of the body will work good

Yep, it's the green one. I tried wiring it the same way it sounds you had it wired and the switch got too hot so i did it the correct way with the relays and everything works fine.
