Need Help With Fuel Guage

No, not the typical guage is messed up thread.

'86 Carbed 5.0L

I am wondering which one of the wires should be hooked up to my new guage. I have a tan, pink and black wire coming from the tank. The black wire grounds on its' way to the front. Tan and pink come all the way up under the dash.

I have searched, and checked my Chiltons and Haynes. Neither of those two books shows the pink wire but it's the only wire that shows any resistance. What's the Tan wire for?

Thanks

Your tan (tan/white) wire will have a splice in it in the engine bay where goes to pin "A" of the fuel pump relay and pin "A" of the fuel pump/oil pressure switch. The pink wire goes to pin "10" of connector "C2" on the instrument panel. As you have already mentioned, the black wire is a ground to the car frame under the drivers seat.

So, you're saying use the pink wire for the guage?
Could it be the different connectors are throwing off my resistance to my Nordskog guages?

I don't know what resistance you are getting through that wire. But the standard resistance is "0" OHM's at empty and 90 OHM's when tank is full. And yes, the pink wire is for the guage. BTW, chiltons and haynes both come up short in a lot of areas such as this.

Yes they do. That's why it's all painless wiring now.

Thanks for the help Trickster.
