Some quick advice for a elec cutout

Hey guys, i just installed my elec cutout..part of the way...

The butterfly mech. is bolted onto the cutout, the wire run into the car, i just hafta find a spot for the switch and make my elec connections..

Now the questions of the night..

What should i connect to? Should it be a source tahts only on when the key is on, or just a always powered source? Something like the power window switch wire? Any suggestions welcome..

also i ran the wire through the floor in under the pass side rear seat in that drainage hole i popped out..now i need to know what i should do for that area? I taped over it a bit for now to keep water out but should i worry about it rusting or anything? What else can i do to keep it sealed up? I was thinking of cutting a peice of screen to patch over the hole, run the wire through it and silicone it up or something..what would you guys suggest?

If you guys could answer that it would be awesome..thanks in advance...

joe

When I installed mine I believe I wired it into the fuse for the windshield wipers or into an open spot in my fuseblock...really not sure, but I would use something that only gets power when the ignition is hot.

As far as sealing up the hole you have a number of options. First I would paint around it with like POR or something else to prevent rust. Then fill in the space with a cut down grommet or silicone or body putty, or even expanding foam. The choice is yours on that one, but make sure it'll keep water out. Also you might want to buy some of that plastic wire loom to put over the wire where it passes through the floor to keep it from rubbing through.
