FP Problems Did Search Still COnfused

K TBI pump finally went out so bought a holley red. Dropped my tank and have the FP out, now that fuel pump had a white/blk/purple wire going to it. My guess is white hot/ blk ground/ purple guage. Could be wrong so let me know. Now the plan is for me to take the fuel pump out and replace it with an equal length amount of hose. Leave the blk and prple wire where they are and clip the white one from outside the tank so that there is no more hot wire inside the tank. NOw from outside the tank I would re route the white wire to my Holley Reds (red :hot: wire) and ground the other blk wire on the holley.

Now my question is am I going through this the right way or will that not work? Thanks for the help guys.

K something new now, I took the TBI pump out and just replaced it with a piece of hose the same length. Holley Red i moutned inside the engine bay by where the windshield washer fluid was, should be ok there. But anywayz. The wires that i disconnected from the old pump can i leave em in teh tank (dont want a loose 12 volt wire in there ya know) or should i clip the wire. Also i was gonna hook the holley in the bay up to the +12v on the coil but i wasnt sure if the coils only hot when the ignitions on? Any ideas
