ECM showing TCC locked when key on

I've got an '87 350 TPI with auto trans I was trying to log with tunerpro yesterday and had the key on and off a lot. This was while I was trying to get tunerpro to work properly. After I was done I unhooked the aldl connector and started the car and it fired in limp mode??? I hooked the pc back up and turned the key on and it showed TCC locked and in the bit table it showed 6rd gear 'true'???

I unplugged the solenoid connector on the side of the trans with the same result...any idears???

I also tried another ecm and another chip with no luck.

Thanks,
chris

Try using a different diagnostic program. Just a thought. Also if you run that program again, try applying the brake pedal and see if the TCC unlocks.

No it doesn't change state. Using tunerpro in the bit folder it shows 1st gear false, 3rd gear true!!!!!,and 4th gear false with the key on and the car in park. Park and neutral change state when they are supposed to but there is no change for the gears 1-4. Should they also change with just the key on or does the car need to be running to show change of state???? I've got the console apart and measured the connector for voltage and pins B and C I think they are , have 12v with the key on. Nothing on anything else.

any thoughts?

Considering that you don't have a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gear signal from the transmission to the ECM, I wonder if your software is any good for your application.

I just unplugged the 3 wire connector to the trans solenoid and measured that. voltages follow:

green 11.5V push brake 11.2V
purple 12V push brake 0V
tan/blk 12V push brake 10V

ALL VOLTAGE WITH KEY ON....

With the connector unplugged the tunerpro bit flag screen changed to 1st gear false, 3 and 4 true. so the program is detecting something. I'm not sure what you mean by the software being application ready. It is windows 2000 and the latest tunerproRT program. Mark Mansur said there should be no issue and I am seeing data collected....

I have also removed the brake light switch and tried leaving it plugged in and unplugging it. No change doing that.

Any other ideas. should the voltage be that low on those three wires to the trans. I thought I read somewhere at least one of those should be 12V???

Does the Delco firmware program use derivative logic to set an internal flag for gear range? That would be VSS / RPM = Presumed Gear Range. I would assume that inputs would be necessary to affect that calculation.
