Slow turning fan
Sometime in the last two weeks my single electric radiator fan has gone kaput. I hadn't noticed because I hadn't driven the car more than 10 minutes until today, and it overheated. The radiator fan is turning fast enough to make a breeze, but it used to be LOUD and POWERFUL! Also, I noticed that the fan won't start spinning by itself. Either the wind gets it started, or I have to actually give it a little spin. No, it's not rubbing. Yes it spins freely. My question is...does this sound like a ground problem or a power problem?

Same thing happened to me, it was the fan motor. Its kaput (as you said) Go ahead and replace the motor and you will notice the difference.
I am 99% sure on this one (unless there is some electrical prob. highly doubt it thogugh)

You guys were right. $25 at Advance Auto Parts and half an hour later it works great. Now if I could just find that hot electrical smell that's been haunting me for two months...

Super expensive though. Good piece of mind for the cooling system though.

D*** that's an expensive fan. If I was going to put that kindof money into the cooling system, I'd go for an aluminum radiator personally. Get some weight off the nose and cool it down better.
About the melting wire smell, I have no idea what it is. A couple of months ago the ground wire from the radiator fan/AC compressor melted where it connects to the ground from the dashboard blower fan (up on the firewall). I spliced and put in new connections, and nothing has outright shorted since then. But the smell won't go away. Im not burning any fuses either. I was hoping the copper brushes in the radiator-fan motor had deteriorated, but even with the new motor, it still smells up by the firewall. I bought a fire extinguisher, and I'm just going to wait.
