Dome/Courtesy light help
My Camaro has a slew of wiring problems due to the previous owners "craftyness" shall we say. He had a coolant thermometer rigged up with a wire stabbed into the fuse box. When I removed this wire the dome lights and courtesy lights went out. The two wires going to the lights are white and orange. I just spent about an hour outside and verified there is continuity between the orange wire and the negative wire. But there is not continuity between the white wire and the positive wire coming off the battery. Of course while I was testing this a door was open, so I figured that whatever switch closes contacts and makes the light come on would have closed the contacts. Can anyone help me resolve this? I figured it'd be the easiest electrical problem to tackle but I'm having trouble. Also there is continutiy between both courtesy (floor) light sockets on the appropriate wires. I did not see where these tied into the fuse box, which I lowered. I saw that they were in a large bundle of wires that headed towards the firewall to a destination unknown. At that point all the blood rushed to my head from being upside down so long so I abandoned ship for now and hopped on this forum. Any help is greatly appreciated.
While I'm on the subject, there were a few slots in the fuse box that only had one wire, tho it looked like there was a space for another that wasn't there. There's this little copper thing that looks like: 0____0. One side had a wire, the other did not, and the fuse spades touched both of the 0's. Is that normal to have only one wire?
I'm hopeless ignorant. Thanks for any and all help!
PS- if anyone wants pix of anything for clarification just let me know and I'll have some up at the first opportunity.
