2 questions
1. I just purchased a 140 amp powermaster alternator. It says to upgrade the charge wire to at least a 8 gauge? Is this the wire that connects to the stud on the back of the alt. and does it go from there straight to the battery. Mine seems to disappear in a wire harness going back towards the firewall? Some insight on this would be appreciated
2. Will a tach out of a v-6 car work in a v-8 car? I know the oil sending unit is different btw the 2 (60 psi -v-8 80 psi v-6) I have been looking for one to replace mine at the local yards and all i have found is v-6. If it will work i need to replace the oil sending unit anyways.

It is not neccessary to replace the wire since normal charging current is way below 140 amps. Typical output from a 140 will be between 35-50 amps normal driving. The chip in the tach has different jumpers for 6 vs 8 cyl engines. I'll try to pull the data and post how to change it.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I can quit worrying about my wiring then. That alternator is fantastic. I dont have any problems now with the help of the cvr mini starter, optima red top batt.,powermaster 140 amp alt., and remote solenoid(which i pobably dont need any more)
