cruise control/TCC switch

What sort of symptoms/damage could be caused with a broken cruise control/TCC brake switch??

Reason for asking is while sorting out the problem with my brake lights, I noticed the CC/TCC switch was broken. The wires were still attached but the switch itself had come apart, and would have been on at all times.

This would explain why my cruise control isn't working.

Would this cause any damage to the torque converter?

 The TCC solenoid is the purple wire going to the brake switch. The cruise control switch has no effect on the TCC solenoid.
