Testing the TPI coil
Used the search, read for a few hours and this was the closest I found:

Same as my shop manual anad it is mostly what I followed.
I was tracking down another problem and decided to test the coil. The car ran and sounded fine at idle up to this point.
Unhooked everything and went at the coil with the multimeter. Made 2 minor mistakes. Tested #1 wrong. Tested to distributer spark on the coil instead of the grounded part of the coil. Forgot to put back the coil wire before the first attempted start No go. Checked and found my mistake so reconnected it. Still no go. I never took the multimeter out of ohm reading so there is no way I can see me fooling it up by testing it.
Is this a bad fluke that the coil went at this time just because I tested it?

Since you didn't post what the results of your test were it is hard to say if the coil is bad or not. You also didn't mention if it was the ignition coil you tested or the pick-up coil. Also just testing the coil will not make it go bad.

Test # 1 failed on the ignition coil. Just replaced it with a new one and it seems to run better now that it has in a while. Odd that it flat out died right at the moment I tested it. Very strange.
I was always under the impression that a coil either works or it doesn't. They don't get weak ect. Is that true?
