Fuel Guage
Alright.. The car has been doin this to me for a while now. it's a 1982 Camaro Z28. And every once in a while both the voltage guage and the fuel guage will quit working at the same time. All other guages work and no fuses are blown. Never do they quit working independently but always both quit at the exact same time. Anyone know where the most likely place to look for a short or how to track down this problem?
Thanks,
Matt

I'm going to base this on an 83 Camaro, assuming they are wired the same. There is one pink/black wire that powers these two guages, but it also goes to the tach, oil pressure gauge and the choke light. Since those are still working, I can only guess the common point to this problem might be a bad ground inside the instrument cluster.

Ended up being the Paper thin circuitry on the back of the cluster. I guess the copper was split or sumthing not makin a connection all the way to the 2 guage connections.
Luckily I had a spare cluster in the garage that I pulled froma junkyard last year. Transfered my guages to that housing, put it in, and everythings great now.
I'll probably solder in a jumper wire from the good side to the bad side of my old cluster.. And keep it for a spare.
