I think GM made one, and installed it in all of their Firebirds.

Seriously, dude, you're not making any sense.

Sorry to be uninformative,my headlights turn on and off properly, they go up when turned on but not down when turned off. I dug into it a little bit and havent been able to pinpoint the problem. So i was simply asking if anyone had custom wired a switch to control the headlights opening and closing.

Are you using the switch right? Push the bottom right corner down hard and hold it until they go down.

Hi,
I had the same problem a few years ago. This problem can be caused by defective headlight switch. There are also some relays up near the headlights. I would inspect the wiring up at the ralays and headlights. If the wiring is OK, replace the headlight switch on the dash.

Ok, I get it. Yeah, check the wiring for the relays and motors up front (for starters, just unplug and plug everything). If that doesn't help, you can easily take the instrument panel bezel off and remove the switch. I had a similar problem and was able to repair the switch by tweaking the copper contacts, but you can always just get another one from a junk yard.

Anyone have the wiring diagram for Firebird headlights?

If i am remembering correctly i believe the 89 set up is different than the prior years, the relay is near the firewall. I just havent found a donor car to swap parts to check things.

1987-92 use the same two-wire headlight actuator and headlight control relay (mounted to the firewall). I picked up a few of the relays the PAP on my last trip. I need to clean and test them, then I'll be adding them to my web site. New they run around $150, OUCH! There was a prior thread on this site where somone opened one up and rebuilt it.

New, don't hesitate and grab it for $10. It has "GUIDE" in raised letters on the upper right corner of the case.
