HELP I don't have a convenience center

I bought my 87 Iroc as a rolling car and put an engine in it and it fired up fine. But almost nothing electrical worked. So I investigated and my damn convenience center had been cut out by the previous owner. So I cut the convenience center out of my 82 Berlinetta and the wires appear to be the same color but are different sizes. There are around 15 wires that somehow I have to connect underneath the dash. Attached is a pic of the convenience center from my 82 Berlinetta. My problem is there are 3 orange wires that are the same size. Does anybody know if I randomly hook up the orange wires if it will start an electrical fire or mess something up bad besides just blowing a fuse?

Okay, in regards to your orange wires for the berlinetta convenience console. One wire goes from the horn relay to the "CTSY" fuse. Another wire runs from the AUDIO ALARM SYSTEM to the "STOP/HAZ" fuse. The third orange wire goes to the "HAZARD" flasher from the "STOP/HAZ" fuse.

Thanks. This just sucks because that means underneath the dash I'm going to have to take the electrical tape off all the millions of wires to follow the 3 wires.

Get a multimeter and check for continuity (roughly 0 ohms).

Re: HELP I don't have a convenience center

Since you have obviously had your convenience center out, you may be able to help me. The metal frame that houses my convenience center was attached at the front to my dash with a couple of sheet metal screws. There was no attachment at the back. it seems to me that something that heavy needs more support than two screws. Any ideas?
