Finally, a rear-defroster....
Hey guys, I was thinking this was gonna be a PITA to do today, but I got it done in just a few hours. Just -defrothought I'd let y'all know how simple it is to add a hatch with the rear defroster.
First of all, the wiring is all self contained and the fact that all camaros already have the "receptacles" for it to plug into makes it even easier. There is no need to worry about splicing any wires or anything. There are 5 wires coming out of the switch, 1: Constant Power In (orange/black), 2: Power Out (purple), 3: Ground (black), 4: Lighting (gray) and then 5: Switched Power In (pink). The power out is a big single purple wire that runs from the switch, over to the kick panel, and down under the sill plate back to the hatch shock. Then there is the ground to the body from the other shock. All you have to do is put the hatch on and wire it up!
Only bad thing about my particular install was that the hatch glass was real dirty when I took it off my parts car, and I didn't realize it had wear marks from old louvers on it until I washed it. I had already installed it by then.....Oh well...
Hope this can help someone....Maybe I should write up a more detailed one for a tech article?????
