rear defogger
My rear defoggers dont work anymore. Ive checked the clips to make siure they are still atatched and they are. I pulled the switch off and put a circuit tester on the various wires. I get a reading when i touch the red wire of course when the ignition switch is on, other than that i get no current through the purple wire or any other wires, the light wont come on on the switch, nothing. I duno if the circuit is broken or the switch is busted. Any ideas? I really do not wana go messing with teh wiring under the dash to fix this so hopefully there is another way?

ok i was reading up about the rear struts for the hatch and how these wires run through it? My struts are totally shot, they havent been working in years but my defogger has up rtill now, so could it be the struts need to be replaced?

I wouldn't worry about the struts being your problem. You should check the gages fuse, the power ACC circuit breaker, the grid lines across the hatch glass. I would also check the defogger switch.

well ive noticed that when i shut the car off, my guages stay where they were when teh car was running, i know thats not right, none of the fuses are blown. Could i rn a jumper wire off the power wire that goes into the switch and run it to the power on the driver side of the grid? Should there be any current running through teh other colored wires on teh switch with teh igbition on, as im only getting current trhough the reddish wire.?
How do i even check to see if the switch is still good? What is the acc circuit breaker, thats what the orange wire hooks up to and is supposed to be hot at all times? Coz that wire gives me no current

Ok i figured it out, the orange and black wire was unplugged at the box on the driver side of the car under the kick panel, i plugged it in and checked out the defogger and it turns on now and i also got my guages to zero out now when the key is off. I didnt know it would be this simple but then again i hate anything to do with electrical lol. Thanx for the help
