Throttle?

Dunno if this is the right spot for this post, but let's try it...

Just starting yesterday, I noticed my car excellerating by itself. I thought I accidentally had the cruise set, so I turned that off, and then noticed the car doing it again.

When I went to shift gears, I'd press the clutch in, and my engine would be reving at 2k. If I'd give it a little gas, it would fall back down to where it usually sits, at 1k. It just seems like the throttle is stuck in a little bit when I let go of the gas?

Anyone else have a similiar problem, or know if there is an easy way to fix this?

Thanks.

I had the throttle shaft bushings were out on my TB and that is what it was doing. See if you can get the throttle to hang by hand. Try it with the car running.

Thanks guys... I'll have to check tomorrow.

How hard were the bushings to replace? Did you do the replacement yourself?

Dang bushings... they should build them better - just replaced the bushings on my one power window motor and both bushings on my headlights...doh!

I think I had a smiliar problem. Apparently what I think is that the TBI either gets stuck or the thrttole blades are worn out to the point where they might get stuck if you try to adjust them. My TPS sits around .65 at a dead stop and it seemed high, when I tried adjusting the idle screw back the throttle plates got stuck and the car was doing even crappier. So I went back and screwed the adjusting screw up to get a better idle and it fixed quite a few problems. However, the hesitation is still there, although greatly reduced.

How's your fuel pump???
