I have tried maybe 30 times or something over the course of time I have had the car, and it only worked once...so i know its not broken. it wasnt the first time that it worked either. it was after i tried it a few times weeks earlier.

take apart your center console to get to the wires that connect to the cig lighter. disconnect the wires. Scratch or sand the contacts where the connectors on the wires went to. There might just be some oxidation on those contacts thats not letting you have a good electrical connection. Clean your cig lighter too, it may help. Also, it never hurts to doublecheck the fuses but unless other stuff isn't working, i highly doubt you have a blown fuse.

what else does this fuse control? im not really worried about it, I was just wondering where the fix would be and if something else would be broken with it. thanks for the help.

That fuse is the "ACC" (accessory or courtesy) fuse and controls all accessories such as power windows, power mirrors, power seats, cig lighter, interior lights, radio, power door locks, to name a few.

I have a similar problem with mine. The lighter goes into its slot but it isnt tight and I cant get it push in and stay in. It just goes in and stays there and it doesnt work either. is there some type of spring in there that might be broke or rusted up? I havent had my dash together in about 6 months and this problem just popped up while I was finishing up the install of the dash. Can I buy a replacement heating element?
