not the oil pressure sender

I recently got my 383 tpi fired up in my 85 Iroc. All the gauges work and it seems to be running ok, with out final adjustments, road tests and all that after initial fire up tuning. My oil pressure gauge will go pegged past the 60 psi limit. When the ignition is turned on for a moment it will go down, then when the motor fires it jumps all the way max again. I have changes the oil pressure one wire sender assembly and the two wire oil pressure switch because I kinda broke the two wire switch. Anyway same thing. Any Ideas are appreciated. Could it be a ground somewhere just for the sender? I've read about a thousand searches and most say the sending unit, not in my case. I have not hooked up a manual pressure gauge because I don't think my pressure is abnormal, I believe its something else since the gauge totally pegs out at initial start all the way as far as the needle may go.

Your engine is getting past 60 psi oil pressure.
My camaro's 169kmi 305 still does this on a cold start.
My Melling high volume oil pump on the 'bird puts out just over 80psi.

If you're curious if the sender is right, test it with an ohm meter. While 90ohm will peg the gauge, 0 ohm will be just that on the gauge.
Engine not running, 0(ish) ohm, running up to 90ħa few.

A break in the circuit will make the gauge peg but, it will peg as soon as the key in on.

thanks Deadbird, I will test ohms and continuity on the circuit, then go from there.
