iroc z please help!!
i just bought an IROC Z convertible and i got it cheap because it had some sort of electrical problem. i thought it would be easy to fix since i've had this problem or a similar one with one of my friends camaro. however im starting to get stuck and have no idea what to do next. the problem is that when i go to turn the car on the instument panel lights up and everything looks good as if the car was going to turn on but it doesnt. the starter doesnt even crank at all! what could it be? please help!
i was told it could be a vats problem any ideas???? thankx

Fuel pump will prime weather the security light stays lit or not.
I've been fighting this random not wanting to start problem on my 91 as well. Mine has the exact same issue and appearently has something to do whith the little thin wires that run up to the key cyl that 'read' the resistance in the key 'pellet'.
The security light was staying on. Pump primed no matter what. Gauge lights went off during crank. Temp gauge did it's sweep. Not much else happened though in the way of starting. Not a peep as far as relay or starter noise.
If the car is not vats quipped, I'd take a stab at the NSS as LT1 stated.

thanks guys
hey guys...well thanks for all the info i havent tried anything because it has been raining over here but i will as soon as i can work on it. so yeah i had the same problem with my 91 camaro and i thought it was the alarm because i had remote start function on it... so the guy who i took it to did something to it so that now i can only turn it on with my alarm still, but not with the key...so its not back to normal but it turns on! i guess the only problem would be if something happens to my remote.
but like i mentioned before now the problem is with my IROC Z CONVERTIBLE!!!! so i will try the stuff that my fellow camaro drivers advised me to do and repost any results so that they may help in the future if anyone has the same problem... thankx
