Who doesnt have a hatch mtr problem

Alrighty here we go

I just finished some extensive interior work...prior to the work the hatch mech worked fine and dandy...basically it stopped working after 1 or 2 struggles to get it to work right during my interior overhaul. So i broke it down and bought a reinforced housing from TDS (old one was cracked and motor was loose) and hooked everything back up nice and tight...hit the reverse switch...NOT A DAMN THING...no sound no movement NO NOTHING

now to mention before it did the same thing not even a SOUND from the motor....i rechecked the motor when it was broken apart and made sure it looked in order visually...it looked ok nothing looked wrong to say the least SO.....ideas?

how do you tell if the motor is done? Shouldnt it be the motor if i get absolutely nothing...also i believe i checked the right fuse for the hatch and it should be getting power? How do i check if it is? which wires do i put to a 12V batt to check? I also had a wire that was a double ground wire and dont know what it goes to????...had a ground on both ends

any help thx

PS. also the hatch light works so does that prove that the hatch wiring is getting power?

The fuse for the hatch in your car is a "In-line" fuse buried in the wire bundle near the fuse block. It is a red/white wire that you will be looking for. You might also check your grounding points as well.

take the back panel off in the hatch. you shouldsee the motor there. check for voltage. if you have voltage. push down on the center of the opening where the hatch catchs on it. the motor should move. <its a switch i think> if you have voltage & the motor doesnt go down. your motor is probably bad. if you have voltage and you push down on the ceneter of it <from the top> and the motor goes down. check to see if its adjusted right.

i have had problems with my rear hatch motor also. All i had to do was replace the switch thats mounted onto the motor. It should be a little black switch that when the motor goes up and down it flicks the switch. I just went to palmen and got it for i think 20 bucks. good luck
