blower motor only works in speeds 2 and 3 + only have heat from defrost

my heater only blows out the defrost and the 4 speed blower motor only has speeds 2 and 3. What gives here? Could the resisitor be bad? I recently added all Auto meter gauges and a new FAST ECM to my car so I tore out 99% of the stock wiring that I didnt need. Well, one of those wires was a ground for the blower motor and I ened up having to ground it to the frame right near the motor. Not sure if this hasd anything to do with my problems but I figured I would mention it anyways.

OK, LET'S TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR .......... BLOWER

<CENTER><B>

Your blower motor ground is good.
The resistor is not used in the highest speed position.
You have a bad switch/connection. The high speed
circuit wire is <font color=orange>orange</font>.
You don’t have vacuum going to your HVAC
panel. Check for a broken, disconnected or pinched hose
from that panel to the manifold.

Open teh hood. Go to the right rear corner of the engine compartment with your meter. Check for voltage at the blower resistor in switch positions 1, 2, and 3.

Check the blower relay in switch position 4.

Defrost is the defaut vent position if there is no vacuum going to the hvac controls. There should be 2 black plastic lines comming thru the firewall next to the blower box (between it and the engine).
One is Vac to the hvac controls. The other goes from the hvac to you heater control valve.
